THE FOSSE

The Fosse is an enterprise covering a number of activities as below, but as this is the delayed 50th Anniversary year of the Glastonbury Festival we have added a slideshow of the colour photos I took at the original 1970 festival.

Contact details for The Fosse are at the bottom of the page.

The Fosse at Glastonbury 1970

This was the very first Glastonbury Festival, and these are, as far as anyone knows, the only colour photos of that event.  Click the stage photo if you would like to see them.

You may have seen some of these pictures in the wonderful Glastonbury 50 book by Michael Eavis and Emily Eavis which you can buy on Amazon on the link here, Q Magazine readers may also have seen the photo of Michael Eavis.  They were also included in Michael Eavis' Tithe Barn display on the exact date of the 50th anniversay of the festival.

For the 50th Anniversary I compiled a montage of all my photos in real time order, entitled "as it happened".  One print was presented to Michael and Emily Eavis at Worth Farm (socially distanced of course), the other print was signed by them and now hangs in my study.

For music fans, we enjoyed: T Rex, Quintessence, Keith Christmas, Stackridge, and many more.

For photographers: The photos were taken on my Pentax S1 single lens reflex camera with a standard f2.2 55mm screw in lens, it was my pride and joy at the time.  The film was Kodak HS Ektachrome slide film rated at ASA160 and processed using standard E4.  This was quite a fast film for the time but many of the night shots are quite "atmospheric".
